**First Time At Auction**
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. A free-blown glass aryballos of pale sage green hues and attractive translucence. This popular Greek vessel form was created throughout antiquity in glass as well as in pottery and metal. This particular example boasts a near-spherical body that evolves into a tubular neck and a flared, folded rim. A pair of small trailed handles join neck to shoulders. All sits upon a base with a smoothed pontil scar. Simply lovely. Size: 2.25" in diameter x 2.875" H (5.7 cm x 7.3 cm)

Condition
Slight losses to trail handles. Pressure cracks to body and neck. Earthen deposits on interior. Vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.)
