Description
Three-Handled Loving Mug, also known as a Tyg or TigQuite large, interesting form. Made of the finest Limoges French white porcelain by Tressemann & Vogt. John Vogt was a prominent porcelain maker in Limoges since the 1850's, and began his partnership with Emilien Tressemann, who brought considerable financial capital, in the 1880's. They started production in 1891 and continued making very fine quality wares until 1907, after Tressemann's retirement. All hand painted throughout with a Luster glaze finish. Decoration displays stylized hanging grape vines over a light blue ground and darker blue trim. Signed by the artist who painted it, on the underside - I.D. Sprague. Also marked in Green on the underside by the producer - T&V (in a rectangle) / LIMOGES / FRANCE.
