Description
A model figure of a deer or elk from the Late Roman Empire. Well detailed (including hooves), nice proportions. Made of lead alloy (relatively soft). The interesting thing about this piece is that the head separates from the body - most likely for a mysterious cult practiced by a sect or retired legionaries. Roman Empire, late period - circa 4th-6th century AD.
Measurements: Approx. 6.5" high with head placed on the neck, 5" without it x 5" x 1.5"Weighs about 3 lbs. 6 oz.
