Book Details: This complete antique ten-volume set is decoratively bound in red blindstamped cloth with gilt spine title and ornamentation to the spine and front board. These volumes are profusely illustrated with engraved illustrated plates. Each volume contains a tissue-guarded frontispiece. The title pages and lists of illustrations from Volumes I-III of Benson J. Lossing’s “Life of Washington; A Biography Personal, Military, and Political†are bound in after the Analytical Index at the end of volume X.

George Washington (22 February 1732 – 14 December 1799) was one of the Founding Fathers and the first President of the United States (1789–1797). He commanded Patriot forces in the new nation's vital American Revolutionary War and led them to victory over the British. Washington also presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the new federal government. For his manifold leadership he has been called the "Father of His Country".
Condition / Notes: These decorative antique volumes display some typical indications of age and wear, including shelfwear and soiling to the boards. Volume X has a detached front board, otherwise the bindings and text blocks are sound. Text and illustrated plates are clear and crisp through mild age toning. These volumes display ex-library treatments, including bookplates.
