40 pp. 15 x 21 cm. Stiff paper covers tied with shoelace. Album contains 76 black and white and sepia toned photographs, 12 of which document African Americans and their homes in Hartsville, SC.

Photo album compiled by Grace M. Whipple of Nahant, Massachusetts, with her frequently racist captions. Also depicted are sights around Hartsville, such as the Hartsville Post Office, The Arcade Theater, etc. which today are on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as scenes from the Whipple's road trip through the South.

Condition

Slight water damage to front cover; pages slightly warped, several pages loose, several pages and with bite marks; many photos faded; overall very good.
