Description
A nice Roman ceramic lamp with radiate bust of Serapis, North Africa, 4th Century AD, the body oval with rounded spout. The shoulder slightly outward sloping with groove on outer edge and set off from the discus by raised molded groove, handle at back. Raised ring on bottom, with what appears to be traces of a maker's mark in the center. L: 5 1/8 in (13 cm). Well-preserved red-orange slip. Suffolk, UK private collection.
