Substantial collection of 115 original drawings and sketches done in the Art Deco style by German-American artist Heinrich Arad Schmidt.
Drawings mostly depict human faces and heads drawn in a distinct rectilineal style. Some of the imagery incorporates religious themes: Christ, various saints, and other religious figures are present. There are also a number of grotesques, such as gargoyles, which suggest an architectural purpose or usage. All drawings in this collection are clearly emblematic of the Art Deco designs of the 1920s-1930s. A unified and thematic collection.
