Description

Pair of Empire-Style Polychrome Bergeres

early 20th century, each with a swept-back patera-carved crest over a padded back, joined by padded acanthine-carved arms to the cushioned seat, raised on fluted tapering circular legs ending in toupie feet.
h. 38"

Condition

In overall very good condition. The upholstery appears to be new or near-new and is in very good condition. They are in a silk or silk-like fabric but for the arm rests and the back which are upholstered in a matching velvet. Tight and sturdy with no movement exhibited in the legs or frames. Scattered rubbing, mars and abrasions; the most notable being a scrape/dent to the fluting on one rear leg that does not extend beyond the fluting into the leg proper. There is a tear/abrasion to the velvet on the back side of one chairback.
