Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A miniature free-blown glass flask of brilliant blue-green hues, its precious curvaceous form with a near-spherical body leading to a tubular neck and a flared rim that resolves in a rolled rim. On the dimpled base is a broken pontil scar inherent to the original process. Lovely areas of rainbow iridescence imbue the piece with even greater beauty. Small but mighty! Size: 2.375" H (6 cm)

Earthen encrustations on interior and small areas on exterior. Vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.) Near choice with marvelous iridescence!
