Description
Large Antique German Porcelain Figurine, Singing Cupid [Eros, Amor], 1880s, the complex multi-part under-glaze hand painted artwork. Cupid is sitting on a stand carried by three Aries on three Aries legs. The Cupid figurine with fan and vase decorated with pink roses on the elaborate stand is probably unique. Laying down his weapons of Love and singing cupid may represent the passion of love interrupted by the aesthetical and [or] sensual pleasure. Without doubts, this composition has a secret meaning.
According to the former owner, the figurine was one of the decoration and presentation pieces in the fine porcelain store closed in the 1930s. The store was specialized on the European porcelain.
