This superb map of the continent features simple interior topography reflecting limited exploratory trips to these areas, but the coastal areas are full of detail as to topography, rivers, lakes, settlements, native tribes, etc. The Galapagos Islands are noted and named, as well as a phantom island near the southern tip on the Argentine side named "Peppy's I. Imaginary." T. Bankes published it "A new Royal Authentic and Complete System of Universal Geography."
