Description
**First Time At Auction**
Central Asia, India, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A fine cast-brass lion guardian figure rearing upon finely-detailed hind legs with a curled tail, a sinuous body, and front legs resting upon a forked bar. The fierce visage is composed of slender ovoid eyes, a bulbous snout bearing sharpened fangs and a pronged tongue, swept-back ears, and a thick crest. A threaded cavity beneath the forked handle allows for mounting. Originally part of a larger grouping of cast figures, this lovely composition is enveloped in lustrous dark-brown patina. Custom mahogany wood stand included. Size: 3.875" L x 1.4" W x 5.75" H (9.8 cm x 3.6 cm x 14.6 cm); 7.875" H (20 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Slight bending to hind legs, and light softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Fine brown patina throughout.
