Sterling silver presentation riding crop, 2nd West Yeomanry Cavalry, 1864.37" long, silver part is 2". Inscribed: "2nd WYY Cavalry Presented by Major Waterhouse and the Officers of A Troop to Private Christopher T Rhodes for the best Shot at Ball Firing Practice 29th June 1864".///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////We originally believed this sterling silver and leather riding crop was American and Civil War, but the "2nd WYY" reveals it is of English origin.There was a Major Samuel Waterhouse who was an aristocrat and volunteer of that regiment(the 2nd West York Yeomanry Cavalry).//////////////////////////Sorry to any bidders for the confusion.

Good condition overall, there are numerous small dents in the silver.Tarnished.
