Description
The sword with temepered steel blade in excellent untouched condition with clear temper line, very sharp, the handle with snakeskin and cloth wrapping, the tsuba with gold inlay designs, the kashira with gold inlay monkey deity figure, the fuchi with gold accented (mostly faded) bird motif, the leather scabbard fitting snuggly. Overall good condition, the same (rayskin) wrapping with some losses, the mekugi connecting pin missing with a temporary dowel present. Total length 37.5", blade length from tsuba to tip 26.5". Believed to be the 6th generation of Uda Kuninume signed blades, circa 1675-1684, possibly earlier.
