Description
A set of three Chinese ranking badges from the 19th century. Group includes a badge for the 5th civil rank of depicting a silver pheasant with a wave and rock motif towards the bottom and shou symbols, auspicious symbols, and bats throughout the field; a gold a brown badge with a crane for the 1st civil rank; and a badge for the 3rd rank of a peacock amongst clouds and auspicious symbols, and above a wave and rock motif.
Dimensions are: for the largest 11 1/2 inches tall X 12 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: They all have some age wear and fraying, but are in good overall condition.
Provenance: From Mr. Lee in Maryland, collected by Mr. Lee's father in Hong Kong prior to the 1950s.
