Abile restauro alla legatura e all’Antiporta, restauro all’ultima carta non numerata, traccia di gora all’Antiporta, alcune arrossature, buon esemplare.
Rara edizione magnificamente figurata. Si tratta della migliore storia dell’Ordine di Malta. Giacomo Bosio viveva nella seconda metà del XVI secolo ed era membro dell’Ordine, Fu incaricato di essere rappresentante dell’Ordine a Roma sotto il pontificato di Gregorio XIII. La sua storia giunge fino al 1571. Fu pubblicata la prima volta a Roma in latino nel 1594-1602. Qui è presentata nella traduzione di Pierre de Boissat, sieur de Lucieu, con le aggiunte di Jean de Baudoin. Opera in quattro parti, la prima contiene la storia dell’Ordine di Malta. L’ultima parte, con il titolo ‘Malthe suppliante aux pieds du Roy’ è scritta da Anne Naberat e il Frontespizio reca la data 1627. L’esemplare è conforme a quello della Wellcome Library, con l’Antiporta incisa che reca il titolo ‘Histoire de Malte avec les statuts et les ordonnances de l'Ordre’ e senza il primo frontespizio a stampa in rosso e nero. La quarta parte si conclude a pagina 44. Mancano quindi le pagine 45-66, probabilmente mai inserite all’epoca.

Rare magnificently illustrated edition. This is the best story of the Order of Malta. Giacomo Bosio lived in the second half of the sixteenth century and was a member of the Order, he was commissioned to represent the Order in Rome under the pontificate of Gregory XIII. Its history dates back to 1571. It was first published in Rome in Latin in 1594-1602. Here it is presented in the translation by Pierre de Boissat, sieur de Lucieu, with the additions by Jean de Baudoin. It works in four parts, the first contains the history of the Order of Malta.The last part, with the title "Alternando Malthe aux pieds du Roy" is written by Anne Naberat and the title page bears the date 1627. The sample conforms to that of the Wellcome Library, with the engraving Antiporta bearing the title "Histoire de Malte avec "les statuts et les ordonnances de l'Ordre" and without the first frontispiece printed in red and black. The fourth part ends on page 44. Therefore, pages 45-66 are missing, probably never inserted at the time.
