Description
Etching in black on thin wove paper mounted on grey paper, 1985, with the Estate of Joseph Beuys blindstamp, the edition was 75.
17 x 12 1/2 in. (sheet), 22 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. (frame).
Note: The Tears Suite is a group of twelve prints that focus on themes of light, matter, stasis and movement, similar concepts to those in his earlier Oath Hand Suite. Beuys had an affinity for the stag and used its image in two of the plates for this suite. The image of the stag has ties to Germanic mythology, and also relates to the image of Christ and his sacrificial death and resurrection.
Literature: Schellmann 524.
