Description
Marked From William Stokes Kirk Phila. Pa.,2 pieces designed to hold post civil war muskets, the musket butts would fit/rest into the bottom ball and claw branches on the rack. They would use 3 muskets to join the top and bottom thus building a field camp or armory musket rack to stack other muskets around. Bottom measures 23 inches x 23 inches x 23 inches, 4.5 inches high, top piece is 8.5 diameter. There is one known to be in the Museum in Gettysburg, Pa. Provenance: From the Estate of Raymond Bentley.
