Description
Late 17th- or early 18th-century Turkish or Middle Eastern flintlock pistol, 12 1/4" barrel, 18 1/2" overall, heavily decorated with silver mountings depicting geometric, figural and foliate motifs at the sideplate, butt cap, barrel bands, and encasing the muzzle. The lockplate, cock, frizzen and barrel are all iron, and also decorated with foliate patterns. The trigger guard is brass and decorated with geometric patterns. The pistol cocks and fires strongly, with the cock itself retaining a flint, age unknown. No ramrod is present, with a silver facsimile affixed underneath the muzzle covering in its place. The stock shows several chips where it meets the metal components overall, and a decorative silver plate is missing from the rear of the grip, while the butt cap is slightly loose. NRA grade good overall.
