Description
Worn by Gary Cole in his role of General George A. Custer in the movie about his fateful battle "Son of the Morning Star". The lot consists of a custom made coat, 2 custom made shirts and a pair of shoes. Also comes with a set used Clapper Board to give any display a true movie feel.
CURATOR NOTES:
The two shirts: (A) Scene: 1874 Blackhills expedition buffalo shoot Custer (Gary Cole) is wearing light brown buckskin trousers and jacket. The dark blue wool like shirt with bib front with wide white two rows edging and white buttons. Plus has the same wide white edging on the collar. You can see the collar and the way the collar lays and edging begins matches what he wears perfectly . (B) In the scenes before and leading up to last stand hill his shirt has white piping and edging. Plus unique styled 7 & crossed sabers embroidered in white into each collar tip. This shirt is the same in every detail down to construction plus the uniquely embroiders 7 & sabers. This is not a replica of the one Gary Cole wore only with yellow piping, no one has ever matched the unique embroidery used by the studio for Gary's shirts. As to my guess a test shirt to see if they preferred yellow over white but went with white? As to provenance, about 2010-11 I bought the great coat and two Cole shirts from a movie military collector. Who said he acquire them after filming and from Michael T. Boyd. Whom was the Military costume supervisor.
Mr. Boyd himself sold Gary Cole's brogan shoes in 2011 via Ebay. I bought them from him and even tracked down the listing for you (check Image). The shoes/brogans come with a COA from Mr. Boyd.
