A rare First Edition of fur trader and explorer Sir Alexander Mackenzie's (b. 1764-1820), "Voyages from Montreal, On the River St. Lawrence, Through The Continent of North America, To The Frozen and Pacific Oceans, In The Years 1789 and 1793", published in London, 1801. Includes a preliminary account of the fur trade in that territory. The 1793 expedition was the first overland expedition by a non-native explorer to reach the Pacific north of Mexico -- pre-dating the American expedition of Lewis and Clark by some ten years. Excellent condition with three large engraved folding maps, signed in script by "Lady Mackenzie of Scatwell", her personal copy.
