Chinese Qing Dynasty Yongzheng blue and red dragon plate. Potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with a slightly flared lip and shallow draft. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue and ruby-red fine color. The Interior center medallion adorned with five claws imperial dragon soaring amidst flames, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Vigorous dragons chasing flaming pearl amidst flames against cobalt blue cresting wavy Lishui water. The backdrop depicts swirling wind and fire painted atop a beautiful white underglaze, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines on the center and on the mouth rim. The outer center decorated with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through thrashing Li-Shui waves in a deep blue color, dragon squama rounded the bowl to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames in ruby-red fine color, enclosed and banded with double fine blue rings lines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.

Mark on under base, a six underglaze blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine rings, Yongzheng Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
