Description
Standard glaze mug with finely done portrait of a Native American named Chief Owns A Dog, rendered by Adeliza Drake Sehon in 1901. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, the date and shape 645 and incised with the subject's name and the artist's initials. There is fine overall crazing and there is a crack at the rim that is about 1 1/2 inches long and runs along the rim just into the interior with glaze chips at either end. Height 4 5/8 inches. The exterior glaze beneath the rim is not affected. Elizabeth Rudisill Collection.
