Description
Rookwood Limoges style tea jar with copper rim and ceramic lid, decorated with wading birds, swallows in flight and tall willow stalks with gold highlighting by Nicholas Joseph Hirschfeld in 1882. Measures 5 1/2 inches by 7 inches across. Impressed Rookwood, 1882, 97, R for red clay, an impressed anchor mark and the incised artist's monogram. We are unsure as to the originality of the rim and lid but the overall effect is very nice. Excellent condition.
