Description
Georges Rouault (French, 1871-1958). A group of two figural prints comprising "Homme A La Moustache" - 1932, aquatint on woven paper, signed in plate, Arches watermark and "Son avocat, en phrases creuses, clame sa totale inconscience...(His Counsel, in Hollow Phrases, Proclaims His Total Indifference)" - circa 1948, aquatint on paper, watermarked "Ambroise Vollard". Approx. Moustache:11.75" x 7.625" (matrix), 17" x 12.75" (paper), 18.75" x 14.75" (frame); Son Avocat:20.875" x 15.75" (matrix), 25.5" x 19.75" (paper), 28.5" x 23.375" (frame).
Condition
Both examined out of frame. Moustache has faint toning to front of paper. Son avocat has toning to front and verso of paper, deckled edges. Paper is a bit brittle. Hinging tape to no longer attached to mat.
