Description
This lot consists of a framed oil painting on canvas, done in the Flemish landscape style of Jan Frans van Bloemen (Belgian, 1662-1749). Framed image measures approximately 19" x 27.25", with an approximate image sight of 15" x 23.25".
This soft and romantic painting depicts an idealized classical landscape. We see clearly defined aspects of a foreground, middle ground, and background, with clear light and stunning detail throughout. A gorgeous addition to any collection.
Reverse side of piece features a large inscription, "1437", and a number of affixed paper labels. Two of the labels appear to be typewritten in French; one attributes the piece to "Frans VAN BLOEMEN", while the other attributes the painting to "J.F. Van Bloemen". The third, and largest, paper label bears the name of Walker Gallery, Inc., dealers in "19th/20th Century Paintings and Bronzes". This label from the Walker Gallery offers the following information:
"Artist: Frans Von Bloemen, Dutch
Date: 1662-1749
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 27 x 19
Price: $4,850.00"
Jan Frans van Bloemen (Belgian, 1662-1749) received formal training in Antwerp under the esteemed Flemish Baroque painter, Anton Goubau (Belgian, 1616-1698). Van Bloemen resided in the great European cities of Paris and Rome, where he presently became a well-respected society portraitist. Van Bloemen was especially successful in Rome, where he received large commissions from Roman nobles, the Pope, and Queen Elizabeth Farnese of Spain.

Overall good condition. Some paint loss can be noted at lower right corner of the painting. The image itself remains rich and clear. Please examine photos for further reference.
