Item Details
Description
Stunning, Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue & white grapes abundant plate. The Finest porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with straight and flaring opening rim, flori form petals and lip, raised with round and concave footing. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the blue fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Ming Dynasty, its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The Interior center medallion adorned with abundant ripe grapes interspersed scrolling interlocking tendril. The middle decorated with various flowers blooms petals interspersed with fresh leaves, and the outer rim decorated with flowers blooms interspersed with scrolling interlocking foliage. Each section banded and enclosed with double fine blue rings in the flori form rim. In feng shui, grapes symbolize the abundance of food, meaning an abundance of material wealth Grapes came to represent success and abundance coming to one in the near future, or always being in one's family. Thus it is common to see displays of grapes in Chinese homes. Sometimes grapes are also used as a feng shui symbol, or cure for fertility, as well as a cure for turning bad luck into good luck. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
