Provenance:A Kaleidoscope Cup Plate, produced in 1983, The "Dove" Merchant Ship design, Lollipop Yellow color with 13 scallop rim. Description for this plate is from the original insert - "In March of 1634, the ship landed on the island of St. Clement's, so named by Governor Calvert. Deciding that the island was too small, they pushed on to establish the first permanent settlement & capital at "St. Maries Citty". A replica of the "Dove" is now anchored on the shores of the restored village of "St. Maries Citty".This plate is issued in celebration of the 350th anniversary of the founding of Maryland & in honor of those brave colonists who sought to dare the New World, etc." On a window sill, these cup plates capture the sun beautifully, further accentuating the intricate designs & color.
