Description

Ultra rare pair of Reisepässe that belonged to 2 members of the world famous Jewish Rothschild's family. One belonged to Richard Israel Rothschild, born in Berlin in 1905 and worked as Engineer and Architect. The other Reisepass belonged to Ilse Rothschild (neé Hirsch), who was born in Milan (Italy) and was presumably Richard's wife, since he was born the same year. Both passports are in awesome condition with no damage at all. Original photos present with many entries. Richard's passport has the name "Israel" which was compulsory for all the male Jews to be identified by Nazi authorities and Ilse's name "Sara" was used. Both booklets have very nice and clear ink stamps and many visas from different countries they visited to flee from Nazi Germany to America. Visas are from Chile, Italy, France, etc. Both passports are marked with the obligatory big red ink "J" that stood for "Jude". These 2 examples are beautiful and are historically very important documents. The Rothschild family was a wealthy Jewish family descending from Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812). During the 19th century, the Rothschild family possessed the largest private fortune in the world, as well as in modern world history. The family's wealth was divided among various descendants,[9] and today their interests cover a diverse range of fields including financial services, real estate, mining, energy, mixed farming, winemaking and nonprofits. The Rothschild family has frequently been the subject of conspiracy theories, many of which have antisemitic origins.
