Pair Chinese 19 Century Porcelain Planters, well enameled with the flowers & birds of the four seasons on a clear ground; inside unglazed with original drainage holes to glazed bases. Light age related wear to enamels, one side with a short star hairline crack. Height 7 1/2 inches (19 cm.) X diameter at mouth 9 3/4 inches (24.7 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased from the Sotheby's New York Auction, "Property from the Collection of the Late Matthew Schutz" in a delux hard-bound catalogue for 9 December 1994. Matthew Schutz, who died in June 1989 was an exclusive antique dealer operating Matthew Schutz Ltd. out of his glamorous apartment at 1025 Park Avenue at 86th Street. Schutz was a founding member of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum's Decorative Arts Committee.
