**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An endearing sculpture of Cupid (Greek Eros) standing in contrapposto atop a concave pedestal, placing his right hand on his hip and holding a cloak over his left arm, and wearing a short tunic. He is looking downward, perhaps toward the earthly realm below, with a sweetly delineated visage crowned by a centrally parted textured coiffure and with his wings fluttering. Size: 4.875" H (12.4 cm)
Provenance: private J.H. collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired between 2003 and 2005; ex-Tom Cederlind collection, Portland, Oregon, USA

Condition
Head and lower legs/base reattached. Loss to right wing and left wing likely repaired with losses to peripheries. Nicks to periphery of base. Expected surface wear but facial features and other details on the wings and body are still discernible. Earthen and mineral deposits grace the surface.
