American Civil War to Indian Wars Union Infantry Kepi Cap
c. 1860-1880's American Civil War to American Indian Wars Period, U.S. Military Union Infantry Kepi Cap, brass "I" (Infantry) buttons, "G" Company, "5" Regiment, Very Fine.
This American Civil War to American Indian Wars Period, U.S. Military Union Infantry Kepi Cap measures about 8" x 5.25". A good example with dark blue wool, black leather brim visor and with chin strap, brass "I" (Infantry) buttons, sewn-in lining, with a tear on the side. The sweatband's stitching is intact. Minor moth damage. "G" Company, "5" Regiment. Interesting newspaper stuck to the underside of the visor. The visor is made of two pieces of leather stacked one on top of the other for strength (now separating). All original with no restoration.
