Description
This lot consists of an oil painting on canvas on board, executed in the style of impressionist painter Dame Laura Knight (United Kingdom, 1877 - 1970). "Laura Knight" is hand inscribed in the lower left along with a small eligible inscription. Piece depicts a young ballerina, performing, or perhaps practicing in a studio. Another young ballerina can be seen in the background tying her shoes. Pierce is executed in the impressionist style for which Knight is so well known. Overall framed piece measures approximately 29" x 21" / Image sight measures approximately 22.25" x 15.25".
Dame Laura Knight, (nee Johnson), (4 August 1877 – 7 July 1970) was an English artist who worked in oils, watercolours, etching, engraving and drypoint. Knight was a painter in the figurative, realist tradition and who embraced English Impressionism. In her long career, Knight was among the most successful and popular painters in Britain. Her success in the male-dominated British art establishment paved the way for greater status and recognition for women artists.

Condition
Painting is in overall very good condition. There's what appears to be a "slash" in the top left corner. It's right near the frames edge and is about 5" in length. Overall the painting is solid, vibrant and show very well. The antique frame is heavily damaged.
