John F. Kennedy Boldly Signed IMF Presidential Appointment
A presidential appointment signed by sitting 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) as "John F. Kennedy" at lower right. Signed in Washington, D.C. on November 1, 1962. Co-signed by Secretary of State Dean Rusk (1909-1994) as "Dean Rusk"at lower left. With a fully intact embossed paper presidential seal at lower left. Isolated darkening and water stains along the edges, else near fine. 20" x 16".
President Kennedy appointed William B. Dale (1924-2011) to a two-year-long term as U.S. Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund. The IMF was founded in 1945 to promote economic growth, stability, and trade; it still actively participates in global financial affairs. Dale had joined the Treasury Department in 1948, worked in the Middle East, collaborated at the Stanford Research Institute, and served on a presidential task force prior to his nomination to head the American division of the IMF. Dale became deputy managing director of the IMF in 1974 before retiring in 1984.
