This lot consists of an unframed acrylic painting on stretched canvas, done in the non-objective, Suprematism style of Kasimir Malevich (Russian, 1879-1935). This vibrant image is a compilation of jewel tones and crisp lines. A hand-painted inscription at lower right reads, "K. Malevich". This unframed piece measures approximately 20.25" x 20.25".

Reverse side of piece features one paper label (lower left) with words written in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Kasimir Malevich (Russian, 1879-1935) sought to develop a form of expression which abandoned traditional "subjectivity" in favor of spirituality. Malevich is often classified as part of the Ukrainian avant-garde of the early 20th century. Though Kasimir Malevich initially coined his painting style 'Cubo-Futuristic', by 1915, he had fully committed himself to the style of Suprematism. He published the manifesto 'From Cubism to Suprematism', ushering in the "supremacy of pure feeling".
