Carte-de-visite (CDV) showing a bust view of Lt. Edwin L. Lawrence of the 45th Illinois. Verso bears period ink identification, tax revenue stamp, and “Wolff’s Gallery, N 10, Royal St, Alexandria, Va., Opperman, Photographer” imprint.
Lt. Edwin Lawrence enlisted on December 29, 1861 and is noted as having been “severely wounded” at the Battle of Shiloh. After the war, Lawrence was a prominent citizen of Belvidere, Illinois, where he is buried. Note: This lot has a reserve price it needs to meet in order to sell.
