Autographed carte-de visite of General Edgar M. Gregory (1804-1871) Abolitionist, United States Army officer during the American Civil War (91st Pennsylvania Infantry-wounded at battle of Chancellorsville), and official in the Freedmen's Bureau. Carte de visite showing standing knees-up view of Gregory wearing uniform with brigadier general rank straps and sword belt and sword. Carte is signed on reverse at top "Your Friend, E.M. Gregory". Carte presents backmark of J. Cremer & Co., No. 18 South Eighth Street, Philadelphia. Reverse of carte presents 2-cent US Internal Revenue proprietary stamp. Tones of image are strong with manuscript ink being strong in strength. CDV accompanied by small folder of research related to General Gregory. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
