Description
Thangka of the wrathful deity Mahottara Heruka, Tibet, c.early 18th century, gouache on cotton, 41.5 x 32.5 inches, in a cherry wood frame 49 x 39 inches, central figure of the seven tiered and many headed wrathful deity Mahottara Heruka in consort with Krodheshvari, wearing a garland of freshly severed skulls and a tiger's skin, trampling nine figures under each foot, Nyingma monks at top left, plus many additional wrathful deities, a striking work capturing the inherent dualism found in this Heruka being; colors still quite good and bold.
Condition
In good condition with age appropriate creasing and small areas of paint loss, few small stains, not examined outside of frame. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
