**First Time At Auction**
Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Acoma Pueblo, ca. mid 20th century CE. A hand-built polychrome pottery vessel of a rounded body with a corseted shoulder and a broad rim. The vessel displays a beautiful decorative program consisting of four birds, perhaps desert quail, delineated in orange and black against a white ground. The lower section of the jar is painted solid orange as is the interior, and the rim and groundline of the decorated register are linedin black. Size: 9" W x 6.7" H (22.9 cm x 17 cm)
Provenance: ex private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired prior to 2008

Condition
Abrasions and minor nicks to rim, base, and exterior, with a few stable hairline fissures, and very light fading to original pigmentation, otherwise intact and very good. Great remains of original colors throughout.
