Maxwell D. Taylor (1901-1987) General, statesman. Taylor helped organize the army's first airborne division early in World War II. He commanded a parachute assault in the Normandy Campaign and in the Battle of the Bulge. He served as commanding general of UN forces in Korea in1953 and as Army chief of staff, and as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff . He was appointed ambassador to South Vietnam in 1964 serving until 1965 and was a special consultant to Lyndon B. Johnson. 6 ½" x 10" autograph letter signed, personal stationery, June 27, 1983 to Mr. Taylor.
