Description
A nice Egyptian steatite scarab, Late New Kingdom, c. 1200 - 1075 BC, the body well-carved with notches on the wing cases and well-defined legs. On base there is a sphinx and it reads 'King of North and South'. 14.5 x 11 mm. Holed lengthwise. Cf. Petrie, BDS, pl. XIII, no. 816 for type. Ex Spangenberg collection, TX.
