Description
A Roman roof tile with stamp of Legion IV, likely Legio IIII Flavia Felix, c. 1st - 3rd Century AD. The rectangular stamp is missing the left side, but the remaining letters which read LEG III… show an arrangement of the numbers which are identical to many Legio IV tiles with the middle two vertical strokes lower the outer two in the number 4. Well-preserved and a great example! 6 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 1 3/8 in (17.1 x 13.9 x 3.5 cm). Light deposits. Ex Austrian private collection; Ex Clark collection, Santa Barbara.
