30s Vintage Rose of Sharon Applique Antique Quilt

Item Details

Description

This matched pair (TWO quilts) of 30's cotton rose of sharon/Ohio rose quilts is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with nice swag borders. The quilts came out of an estate in SW Ohio. Each measures 68" X 86" and is in EXCELLENT condition, with no spots or wear. There is quilting around and within the applique and in DENSE floral, straight line, and feathered designs in the background, all at an even 12-13 stitches to the inch. The backs are white, the hand stitched bindings are the same dusty rose used in the interiors, and the battings are thin. The maker used an unusual puckered applique technique with the dusty rose floral centers and border rosettes.
