**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, probably Nayarit or Michoacan, ca. 100 BCE to 300 CE. A sweet bichrome terracotta vessel of a rounded form, presenting a marvelous decorative program comprised of a continuous zigzagging serpentine motif adorned with red on cream striated motifs that alternates with concentric circular motifs with dotted outer rings that perhaps symbolize eggs as well as fertility and renewal by extension, also delineated in red on cream. Size: 3.15" W x 2" H (8 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
