Description
**First Time At Auction**
Central Europe, Austria, Vienna, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A brass oil lamp that is meant to rest atop a container of flammable oil. Within the shallow basin is a perforated ring, an openwork, crown-like border, and a domed wick holder. The wick consists of a tightly braided cloth strap with dangling lower terminals which would soak up oil before being lit at the top. A frontal knob operates a crank to feed more of the wick through the top opening, and the front of the button reads, "R. Ditmar Vienna, Made in Austria." Size: 5.25" W x 3.4" H (13.3 cm x 8.6 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included lucite stand.

Condition
Minor losses to perforated interior lining, with fraying and light staining to wick, and slight bending to overall form of body, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout. Knob turns smoothly.
