**First Time At Auction**
Western Europe, Great Britain, England, ca. mid-20th century CE. A large wig tin with a cavernous, egg-shaped profile formed from hammered iron sheets wrapped around a base plate. Brass trim lines the lower lid periphery and the upper rim of the body, with a hinged brass handle, and an openwork T-shaped latch. The hinged lid opens to reveal a removable wig mount meant for stabilizing the bulky hairpiece during transportation. The front of the body presents the name of its original owner, Lord Swinfen (Roger Mynors Swinfen Eady, 3rd Baron Swinfen, MBE), and the inside of the lid reads "Ravenscroft Law Wig & Robe Makers, Lincolns Inn, London." A hand-written label inside the body also reads "Lord Swinfen" in black ink. Size: 9.125" L x 8.6" W x 9.4" H (23.2 cm x 21.8 cm x 23.9 cm)

Original contents of tin missing. Abrasions and minor indentations to base, lid, and interior, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of pigment.
