First image is a rare JS Johnston deck view of cup yacht "Columbia". Albumen photo of the 1899 America's cup defender "Columbia". A striking view showing gentleman standing on deck in proper yachting attire and a full crew in whites. giving an unusual and seldom seen prospective of one of these 19th century sailing machines. The entire crew is in action. Identified as plate number 759, "Columbia" copyright, 1899. by JS Johnston, NY. Second image is a 19th century albumen photograph of the 1899 and 1901 America's cup defending yacht Columbia. Vessel is shown under full sail with a crew of at least 21 on board. with nine sailors preparing a spinnaker. Plate number 683 is seen on bottom and yacht name "Columbia" , Columbia was owned by J. Pierpont Morgan and Edwin D. Morgan. 6 1/2" x 8 3/4"
