This Antique Star Egg Carrier and Tray with Eggs was produced in 1903 according to patent date 1903-03-10 Publication of US722512A. This type of crate was only produced by this company due to patent. This is one of the more sought after items for a country kitchen or primitive décor. It includes 12 eggs 5 brown and 7 white. It is missing 2 of the dividers. Someone has written White House on the side of the carrier. Hey, who knows maybe it was in the White House at some point. The handle slides back and forth. When in the center it was for carrying the eggs- slide back was for retrieving the eggs. The crate is put together with Box Joint edges not dove tail as some other sites state. Measures 8" x 6 3/8" x 2 3/4". All letting is legible and box is relatively clean. This is a hard item to find in this good of condition. It is 117 years old so it should not look like new.
