Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery jar with a rounded base, a spherical body with several incised vertical striations, a sloped shoulder that tapers to a narrow neckline, and a tall neck with a thick, flared rim. The shoulder is further accentuated with an incised register of enclosed geometric motifs, and the entire vessel sports an exterior layer of red-orange slip. Stabilization to a few fissures stemming from area of midsection, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor nicks, abrasions, and pitting to base, body, shoulder, and neck, with softening to some incised details on shoulder, and light fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits and manganese blooms throughout.
