**Originally Listed At $300**

Oceania, Polynesia, Fiji Islands, ca. second half of the 19th century CE. A fine cup of a hemispherical form carved from one half of a shaved coconut shell. The vessel has a round but stable base, smooth walls, and a thin rim. Cups like this example were used at dinner parties, celebrations, and other significant events, though they were mainly used for consuming the kava kava drink during ritual ceremonies. Size: 4.3" W x 2.5" H (10.9 cm x 6.4 cm)
